GOSI (General Organization for Social Insurance) manages Saudi Arabia's social security system. Use this calculator to see exactly how much is deducted from your salary — or how much your employer pays — based on your nationality, salary, and allowances.
Last updated:
GOSI contributions are calculated on basic salary + housing allowance.
Expat employees do not contribute to GOSI — only employer pays occupational hazards (2%)
GOSI(General Organization for Social Insurance) is Saudi Arabia's social insurance authority. It manages pension, occupational hazards, and unemployment insurance programs. Every employer in Saudi Arabia must register with GOSI and make contributions for their employees.
For Saudi nationals, GOSI functions like a pension and social safety net — they contribute 9.75% of their salary and in return receive retirement benefits, disability coverage, and unemployment insurance (SANED).
For expatriates, the situation is different. Non-Saudi employees do not contribute to GOSI from their salary. The employer pays only 2% for occupational hazards insurance, which covers workplace injuries. Expats do not accumulate pension benefits — instead, they receive End of Service Benefits (EOSB) when leaving employment.
The calculator computes GOSI contributions based on your basic salary + housing allowance. Other allowances (transport, phone, commission) are not included in the GOSI calculation base.
Calculation formula:
Contributory salary = Basic salary + Housing allowance (capped at 45,000 SAR)
Employee deduction = Contributory salary × applicable rate
Employer contribution = Contributory salary × applicable rate
| Branch | Employee (Saudi) | Employer (Saudi) | Employee (Expat) | Employer (Expat) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Annuities (Pension) | 9% | 9% | 0% | 0% |
| SANED (Unemployment) | 0.75% | 0.75% | 0% | 0% |
| Occupational Hazards | 0% | 2% | 0% | 2% |
| Total | 9.75% | 11.75% | 0% | 2% |
Key point: Expats have zero salary deductions for GOSI. The employer's 2% occupational hazards payment covers workplace injury insurance only.
GOSI contributions are calculated on a maximum salary of 45,000 SAR per month. If your basic salary plus housing allowance exceeds this amount, contributions are only calculated on the 45,000 SAR cap.
For example, if a Saudi employee earns 60,000 SAR (basic + housing), their employee GOSI deduction is still calculated on 45,000 SAR — meaning a maximum deduction of 4,387.50 SAR per month (9.75% × 45,000).
Maximum monthly deductions (2026):
Saudi employees who contribute for at least 120 months (10 years) can claim a retirement pension at age 60. Those with 300+ months (25 years) of contributions can retire early. The pension is calculated as: average salary of last 2 years × months of contribution ÷ 480.
If a Saudi employee is involuntarily unemployed, SANED provides: 60% of average salary for the first 3 months, then 50% for up to 9 more months (12 months total). Maximum benefit is 9,000 SAR/month.
Both Saudi and expat employees are covered for workplace injuries and occupational diseases. This provides: medical treatment, daily compensation during recovery (100% of salary), disability pension for permanent injuries, and death benefits for dependents.
For Saudi employees, GOSI deducts 9.75% of your salary (9% pension + 0.75% SANED unemployment insurance). For non-Saudi/expat employees, there is NO salary deduction — the employer pays only 2% for occupational hazards insurance. This is calculated on basic salary plus housing allowance, capped at 45,000 SAR per month.
No. Expatriate (non-Saudi) employees do not have any GOSI deductions from their salary. The employer pays 2% of the expat's salary for occupational hazards (workplace injury) insurance only. Expats do not receive pension benefits from GOSI — instead, they receive End of Service Benefits (EOSB) when their employment ends.
The maximum salary used for GOSI contribution calculations is 45,000 SAR per month. If your total salary (basic + housing) exceeds 45,000 SAR, contributions are calculated only on 45,000 SAR. Any amount above this cap is not subject to GOSI deductions.
For Saudi nationals, GOSI provides: retirement pension (at age 60 or after 25+ years of contributions), disability pension, survivors' benefits for dependents, occupational hazard compensation (workplace injuries), and SANED unemployment benefits (up to 12 months at 60% then 50% of salary).
Yes. GOSI contributions are calculated on the total of basic salary plus housing allowance (whether paid as a separate allowance or provided as actual housing valued at 25% of basic salary). Other allowances like transport, phone, or commission are NOT included in the GOSI calculation base.
For Saudi nationals who contributed to GOSI and leave employment, they can claim their pension at retirement age (60) or get a lump sum if they have less than the minimum qualifying period. For expats, GOSI contributions are non-refundable — but since expats don't contribute from their salary, this mainly affects the employer's 2% occupational hazards payment.
